Partner Terms
These Partner Terms are an agreement between PostShop, operated by JWJ Writer LLC (“PostShop,” “we,” “us”), and the publisher that signs up for a press shelf (“the press,” “you”). By ticking the box on the sign-up form you agree to them on behalf of the press, and you confirm that you are authorized to do so.
Effective Date: The date you sign up.

Section 1How These Terms Fit With Our Other Terms
Your press account is a PostShop account. Our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy apply to it, including Section 8b (Book Pages, Reviews, Libraries & Bookstores), Section 9 (Content Guidelines & Safety), Section 9a (Copyright Policy), Section 10 (No Performance Guarantees), Section 11 (Limitation of Liability), Section 12 (Indemnification), Section 14 (Force Majeure), Section 16 (Governing Law & Dispute Resolution) and Section 17 (General Provisions). Where these Partner Terms and the Terms of Service say different things about a press account, these Partner Terms apply.
Section 2Who Can Be a Partner
- A publisher based in the United States, of books by at least five different authors. Books you publish under your own name count as one author.
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract.
- The information you give us at sign-up and afterwards must be accurate, and you must keep your email address current. It is how you sign in and how we reach you.
- One email address opens one PostShop account. If the address you use for the press already opens an account, sign up the press with a different address.
Section 3The Free Shelf
What it includes. At no charge and for no set period, a press account includes:
- A shelf page at postshop.live/shelf/ followed by the address you choose, showing up to 500 of your books, with your logo, your colours and a line of your own under your name.
- For each book, a reader page, a share page with its QR code, and a printable table sign and bookmarks, as described in Section 8b of the Terms of Service.
- A QR code and a printable sign for the shelf itself, and a share picture for the shelf.
- Two running totals on your dashboard, counted across all your books: visits to your reader pages, and requests readers made to libraries and bookstores to carry your books.
When it opens. Your shelf, reader pages and QR codes open when both of these are true: your shelf has books by at least five different authors, and we have reviewed and approved your account. Until then you can add books and set up your shelf from your dashboard, and the pages show that they are not open yet. Approval is at our discretion. Among other things, we look at whether the books appear to be published by the press and the authors appear to be real. We may decline an account, or withdraw approval at any time and for any reason, and we will tell you by email.
Staying open. While your shelf is open, your dashboard does not let you remove or change a book in a way that would leave fewer than five different authors on it.
Your dashboard. On the free shelf and on Relay, a press account is managed from the dashboard and by email. A PostShop texting number comes with PostShop (Section 4a).
Section 4Subscribing to Relay
What it adds. You can subscribe your press to PostShop Relay from your dashboard. While the subscription is active, your dashboard also shows activity by book, the libraries and bookstores readers asked to carry each book, and a report on the 1st of each month.
Price and billing. A press pays the same price, and receives the same offers, as any Relay subscriber. If you subscribed before and have monthly payments left at a limited-time price, you pay that price for those months; if you have not, and a limited-time price is running when you subscribe, you receive it as a new subscriber does. The price and the renewal terms are shown, and must be agreed to, before checkout. Section 3 of the Terms of Service (Billing & Payment) applies. There is no free trial on a press’s subscription; the first payment is taken at checkout.
Activity by book is recorded only while you pay. We begin recording activity by book on the day your subscription starts and stop when it ends. Your dashboard shows activity by book for the periods you were subscribed. For any period on the free shelf, only the two totals in Section 3 exist.
Section 4aMoving Up to PostShop
What it adds. You can move your press up to PostShop from your dashboard, on the same press account. Your press then has PostShop as described in our Terms of Service: posts drafted from what you send, approved by you before they go out on the social accounts you connect, and a PostShop texting number once you turn texting on. It also has everything Relay adds (Section 4). Your shelf, your books, your partnership and your commission under Section 7 stay as they are.
Price and billing. A press pays the same price, and receives the same offers, as any PostShop subscriber. If your account has never had a free trial, PostShop starts with the free trial a new subscriber receives; otherwise the first payment is taken at checkout. From Relay, you make the change on Stripe’s plan page, which shows any amount due and when the change takes effect before you confirm. The price and the renewal terms are shown, and must be agreed to, before you continue. Section 3 of the Terms of Service (Billing & Payment) applies. Your press’s own subscription earns no commission (Section 7).
Moving back. From PostShop you can move to Relay or to the free shelf on your dashboard, and the same happens if a payment fails (Section 5). Posting stops when the change takes effect. Your press keeps its PostShop texting number and connected social accounts for 30 days after that, and moving back up within those 30 days picks up where you left off; after 30 days the number is released and the social accounts are disconnected.
Section 5Moving to the Free Shelf, and Closing Your Account
Moving to the free shelf. A subscribed press can choose Move to the free shelf on its dashboard. Your subscription ends at the end of the period you have paid for, and is not renewed. Your shelf, reader pages and QR codes stay open, your dashboard returns to the two totals, activity by book stops being recorded, and the monthly report stops. Your partnership and commission under Section 7 continue.
If a payment fails. If your subscription ends because a payment could not be taken, or for any reason other than your choosing Close your account, your press moves to the free shelf as above. It is not closed.
Closing your account. You can choose Close your account on your dashboard at any time. On the free shelf the account closes immediately. With a subscription, it closes at the end of the period you have paid for. When your account closes:
- your shelf, every reader page and share page of your account, and every QR code and printed sign that points to them, stop working, including your address for any book linked to an author under Section 6;
- your partnership ends, and no commission is earned on any payment made after the day your account closes, including payments from subscribers you referred before then (Section 7);
- within 30 days you can reopen the account on the free shelf when you sign in, at no charge, whatever plan it was on, and then subscribe to Relay or move up to PostShop from your dashboard. A reopened account is a partner again from the day it reopens: commission is earned on payments made from that day, and not on payments made while the account was closed.
Section 6When One of Your Authors Has Relay
An author whose book is on your shelf may have, or start, their own Relay subscription. You can link that book on your shelf to the author’s own reader page, in either of two ways: by sending the author the invite link for that book from your dashboard, or by confirming the request we email you when the author adds the same book to their account. A book is never linked without your action.
While a book is linked:
- its card on your shelf, and your own address and QR code for that book, open the author’s reader page;
- visits and library and bookstore requests that reach the author’s page from your shelf or your QR code are counted in your two totals, or by book while you are subscribed;
- the author sees on their own dashboard how many visits came from your shelf and what those readers did.
You can unlink a book from your dashboard at any time. If the author’s account closes, your shelf card and your QR code for that book open your own reader page again.
Section 7Commission
What you earn. We pay you 25% of each payment we receive for a subscription to PostShop Relay or to PostShop that comes through you, as set out below, for as long as that subscriber keeps paying and your account stays open. A subscriber who moves from one plan to the other still comes through you. There is no cap on the number of subscribers or on the amount.
How a payment is measured. The 25% is calculated on the subscription price the subscriber actually pays for each period, after any discount or offer price and before tax. Sales tax, VAT, GST and similar charges collected with the payment are not included.
What comes through you. A subscription comes through you when the subscriber starts it after arriving at PostShop from any of these: your shelf; a reader page or share page of your account; a QR code or printed sign of yours; the invitation line at the foot of those pages; your partner link; or your partner code entered at checkout. When a visitor arrives through one of these, we keep a record in their browser for up to 400 days. Some browsers, private browsing and cleared browser data can remove it sooner, which is why your partner code exists. If a subscriber arrived through more than one partner, the partner they arrived through last before subscribing receives the commission. We decide which partner, if any, a subscription came through from our own records, and our records are final unless you show us they are wrong within 60 days of the payment.
What does not earn commission.
- Your own press’s subscription, and any subscription paid for by you, by the press, or by anyone acting for the press.
- Payments for anything other than a subscription to PostShop Relay or PostShop: a gift, for example.
- A payment that is refunded or disputed, in proportion to the part refunded or disputed. If we have already paid you commission on it, we deduct that commission from your next payout or payouts. If a dispute is later decided in our favour, or closed without a chargeback, the commission on that payment is restored on a later payout.
- Payments made after your account closes (Section 5), after we withdraw approval of your account (Section 3), after we end the partnership, after your press goes out of business, or after PostShop closes (Section 10).
Your own authors. Your authors may subscribe through you like anyone else, and their subscriptions earn commission.
Section 8Payouts
- Once a month. Commission earned on payments made in one calendar month is paid by the 15th of the following month, after deducting any reversals under Section 7. A payment made on any day in October, for example, is paid by November 15. There is no minimum amount.
- By ACH. Payouts are made by ACH transfer to a bank account in the United States in the name of the press or its owner.
- Tax forms. Before your first payout you must give us a completed IRS Form W-9. Commission owed to you is held until we have it. If the commission we pay you in a calendar year reaches the amount at which the IRS requires a Form 1099-NEC, we issue you one. You are responsible for your own taxes on commission.
- A statement with each payout. We email you when a payout is sent, with the amount, the period it covers, the number of subscribers it covers, and a statement that lists each payment, its date, what the subscriber paid and your commission. Subscribers appear on a statement by number, never by name. Your earnings to date are shown on your dashboard.
Section 9How You Recommend PostShop
- Say that you earn. Where you recommend PostShop to anyone, you must make clear that you earn a commission when they subscribe, as the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising require.
- Be accurate. Describe PostShop only as it is described on postshop.live. Do not promise reviews, sales, library or bookstore orders, or any other result.
- No spam. Do not send unsolicited bulk email or messages about PostShop, and follow the laws on commercial email and messaging that apply to you.
- No paid search on our name. Do not bid on “PostShop” or “PostShop Relay,” or on misspellings of them, in search advertising.
- No paying for sign-ups. Do not pay or reward anyone to subscribe, or subscribe on someone else’s behalf.
- Our name. You may use the names PostShop and PostShop Relay to describe the service accurately. You may not present yourself as PostShop or as acting for us.
Section 10Ending or Changing the Partnership
By you. You end the partnership by closing your account (Section 5). Moving to the free shelf does not end it.
If your press goes out of business. The partnership is for a press that is in business. If your press goes out of business, the partnership ends on that day, and no commission is earned on any payment made after it. Please close your account, or tell us at hello@postshop.live. When we learn that a press has gone out of business, we close its account as of the day it went out of business. Commission earned on payments made on or before that day is paid under Section 8, after any reversals under Section 7. Commission already paid on a payment made after that day is deducted from any later payout.
By us, for cause. We may end the partnership, and close the account or withhold approval under Section 3, if you breach these terms or the Terms of Service, if a subscription is obtained through fraud or through conduct prohibited in Section 9, or if the press does not meet Section 2. Commission connected with the breach or the fraud is not payable.
By us, at our discretion. We may end the partnership program, or your participation in it, at any time and for any reason, by telling you by email. It takes effect when we send that email, unless the email gives a later date. We pay the commission earned on payments made before it takes effect, except commission connected with a breach or fraud.
If PostShop closes. If we stop operating PostShop, the partnership ends on the day the service closes. We have no obligation to keep the service or the partner program running, and no commission is earned on any payment made after that day. Commission earned on payments made on or before that day is paid in one final payout under Section 8, after deducting any reversals under Section 7. That final payout is everything owed to you under these terms. Commission is owed by JWJ Writer LLC and by no one else.
Changes. We may change these Partner Terms by emailing you the change at least 30 days before it takes effect. A change to the commission rate applies only to payments made after it takes effect. If you do not accept a change, you may close your account before it takes effect, and commission on payments made before then is paid as usual.
Section 11Your Books and Your Shelf
- You confirm that the press publishes, or has the right to promote, every book you add, and that you may use its title, author name, cover image and store links as the shelf and its pages use them.
- You must not present the press as the publisher of a book it does not publish, or as connected with another publisher. Books added after your shelf is approved go up at once and are reviewed by us afterwards; we may remove any that do not meet this Section, or withdraw approval under Section 3.
- You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence, for as long as your account is open, to show your books’ titles, author names, covers and store links, your logo and your wording on your shelf, reader pages and share pages, and in the share pictures, QR codes and printable items made from them, and to make the copies of them needed to do so. The licence ends when your account closes, except for copies already printed or shared by you or by readers.
- Your logo, colours and wording must follow Section 9 of the Terms of Service. We may remove anything that does not.
Section 12What We Share With You
We never tell you who a reader or a subscriber is. Your totals and your activity by book are counts of steps readers took on your pages; while you are subscribed, they also include the names of the libraries and bookstores readers asked to carry each book. Payout records and statements give payments, amounts and a number for each subscriber, and no names or contact details. Our Privacy Policy describes what we collect from readers and how we use it.
Section 13Our Relationship
The press and PostShop are independent businesses. Nothing in these terms makes either one the employee, agent, partner in law, or joint venturer of the other, and neither can make commitments for the other. The word “partner” in these terms describes the program, not a legal partnership.
